for businesses that need it to work.

Three plates, cyan, magenta and yellow, landing in register. Move your cursor fast and they slip. Everything I make has to survive a press, a feed or both.

How I work

Most of what I make gets about two seconds. A bag at a checkout, a tile in a feed, a screen at a trade show. The type has to land before anything else does.

Selected work

The day job at a local ad agency, and the freelance and school work I've done under my own name. Hover a row to look.

MARCGroup

Graphic designer from October 2023, social media coordinator since September 2025. MARC is a local ad agency on Main Street in Newmarket, and its main product is a bag.

A grid of tiny billboards

Every BagVertising bag is a grid of ad panels for local businesses, handed out at checkouts like Shoppers Drug Mart, Loblaws, No Frills, Sobeys and Home Hardware. Each panel has a couple of seconds to say who you are and how to reach you.

A burger joint in Carstairs, a roofer celebrating 40 years, a lodge in Arizona, a funeral home in Whitby. Every panel on this bag is a real one I built. Scroll and they print on.

Blue Mountain Power Co-op

A member-owned electric co-op in west-central Alberta. I run their monthly posting: outage notices, event carousels, a yearly scholarship series and more than a dozen analytics reports. Posts come out of a template kit I built in HTML and Python, so a notice lands on brand in minutes.

Three CRAM Collect Whatnot stream thumbnails fanned out: Vintage Hockey with Charles, Chaser Slab Show with Dallas, and Pokemon Slab Wars with Brock

CRAM Collect and NGA Card

CRAM sells cards live on Whatnot and NGA grades them into slabs. I built the stream rig in OBS, the overlays, and a thumbnail system: one host, one colour, one hook, so each show still reads as a tiny tile in the feed.

MARC, in motion

Wordsthatmove.

The two pieces I'd show first. A loop for MARC's in-store tabletop screens, and a 20 second promo that explains BagVertising faster than a sales call. Both built in code, with the type, transitions, music and sound effects on one timeline, so a new cut takes an hour instead of a week.

Badges,not cards

The MARC admin team needed something better than paper at a trade show. So each person got a digital ID badge on their phone: headshot, title, and a QR code that saves their full contact, photo included, in one scan. Give them a nudge.

One file, five people

A single page with a route per person. Fix one email and every badge updates on the next upload.

Every QR tested

Each code holds a full vCard and gets scanned back out of the render before it ships. They're blurred here, since the numbers are direct lines.

Plus a printed-free manual

An illustrated how-to for the team: add to home screen, show the QR, AirDrop a backup.

Paper cards run out. These don't.

The badges started here: one card for byDrew, one for MARC. Scan, tap save, and the contact lands in your phone as a vCard.

BBD Air Systems

01 / Web

A website for an HVAC and custom sheet metal shop in Newmarket. Heavy condensed type, one hard red, and a layout for a contractor who wants a quote in two clicks. Hand-coded, on GitHub Pages.

Adapt Toronto

02 / Brand

A concept brand made with a team at OCAD about getting Toronto ready for climate change. I took the logo, the Instagram system, posters and a frame-by-frame promo video.

Allevi8

03 / Brand

The old mark didn't scale. The new one is a single wordmark with the 8 carrying the colour, so it holds up on merch as well as a business card. Plus a menu, a patient form and cards.

Issy Walks

04 / Brand

A dog walking company that wanted younger clients. A round badge that reads on a shirt, a sticker or an Instagram avatar, with enough restraint to still look right in five years.

Oh_riginal mascot, a cartoon kid in a cap

Two Twitch packages

05 / Motion

Both built from a character the client already loved. Luna / Sol got a full set of animated graphics. For Oh_riginal I reworked the colours and kept every animation short, so the channel feels playful, not busy.

Kinetic Type

06 / Video

Motion type from OCAD that mixes pop culture with ad-style messaging. Where the habit of making words move started.

Open process book on a purple background

OCAD thesis

07 / Brand

An open thesis: a full rebrand with a logo, Twitch graphics and a documentary on the process, tied together in a process book.

08 / Video

A four-part Call of Duty montage. Each part stands alone, the four still play as one piece, and the cuts land on the beat.

Hi, I'm Drew

I went to OCAD for design and came out making logos, Twitch packages and video edits. Now most of my week is print ads and social posts for real businesses, the kind that have to read at a checkout counter and on a phone screen. When a job keeps coming back, I build a template for it, so the next one takes minutes instead of an afternoon.
